Our specialist Chinese antiques sales catalogues are available online about two weeks before the sale.

Online Viewing

All our auctions are on view at least two days prior to the sale.

Condition Reports

We are happy to give condition reports on all items available for sale. All measurements are measured, but approximate. Image colour and quality is not necessarily completely accurate.

How to Register Bid at our Action

All buyers must register with us before they can buy at our sales. Once your registration is complete, you will be given a permanent buying number which can be used in all future sales.

Please remember to provide photo identification when registering with us.

Your passport or driving license and a proof of name and home address.

Leaving a Commission Bid

If you are unable to attend our auction either in person or online, you may leave a bid, which will be passed onto our sale auctioneer. Please be reminded to make sure you are registered with us before leaving commission bids.

Telephone Bidding

It is possible to bid over the phone during a live auction. As above, make sure your registered then let us know which item you would like to bid on before the sale is on.

Buyer’s Premium

Each lot bought is subjected to a buyer’s premium of 20% + VAT on the first £500,000 of the hammer price. A 10% charge + VAT for any lot sold over £500,000.

VAT All lots bought are subject to a VAT charge.

Ma San Auction offers an online bidding service via the-saleroom.com for bidders who cannot attend the sale.In completing the bidder registration on www.the-saleroom.com and providing your credit card details and unless alternative arrangements are agreed with Ma San Auction, you:

    1. authorise Ma San Auction , if they so wish, to charge the credit card given in part or full payment, including all fees, for items successfully purchased in the auction via the-saleroom.com, and
    2. confirm that you are authorised to provide these credit card details to Ma San Auction through www.the-saleroom.com and agree that Ma San Auction are entitled to ship the goods to the card holder name and card holder address provided in fulfilment of the sale.Please note that any lots purchased via the-saleroom.com live auction service will be subject to an additional 4.95% commission charge + VAT at the rate imposed on the hammer price
Payment and Clearance

Payment is due immediately after the auction in pounds sterling. If you are a first time buyer we will need your name, address and bank details and will require funds to be cleared before purchases can be released.

The following methods of payment are accepted:
Bankers draft, cashier’s cheque, personal cheque, debit and credit cards and cash.

We do not pack or send/dispatch any lots bought from our sales.

Selling at Ma San Auction

Before the auction:
You will receive notification of the lot numbers of your property and a complimentary illustrated catalogue, usually about two weeks before the sale. You are of course welcome to come to the view or attend the auction if you wish.

Selling Charges

A standard commission charge of 12% + VAT will be added to lots sold with us.
Free valuations are offered on your items. Please look at our Valuations tab for more information.

The reserve price

We usually recommend that your goods are sold at the auctioneers’ discretion, which gives us a 10% leeway on the lower estimate printed in the catalogue. Alternatively we are happy to agree a fixed reserve price below which we will not sell.

Settlement

Settlement will be made usually within 4 weeks of the sale. Subject to normal business conditions and the speed of payment from the buyer.
Insurance is charged at 1.5% (+ VAT) of hammer price.
